As Killer Frost answers for her crimes, Barry Allen continues to investigate the newly unleashed Forces. Here's a spoiler-filled recap of The Flash.
WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for The Flash Season 7, Episode 8, "The People v. Killer Frost," which aired Tuesday on The CW.
After turning herself in to the authorities, Killer Frost must answer for her supervillain past in the face of Kristin Kramer, a special investigator with a thinly veiled grudge. And as Team Flash is tied up in courtroom drama, Barry Allen discovers just how far Nora, the living personification of the reborn Speed Force, will go in their investigation of new Forces appearing throughout Central City.
As Frost prepares for sentencing, after pleading guilty to the crimes with which Kramer charged her, Cecile Horton notes that they may be able to get her a reduced sentence if she can demonstrate how she's become a force for good in the city. Instead, Frost and Cecile are shocked by the prosecution moving to have Killer take the metahuman cure to permanently rob her of her superpowers. Pulling strings with A.R.G.U.S., Kramer moves to make the cure the only court-mandated sentence. Given Frost's unique genetic makeup after splitting from Caitlin Snow, though, Team Flash is concerned the cure could have serious health consequences to Frost that the court isn't aware of or simply doesn't care about.
Meanwhile, Barry and Nora are called away to investigate detections of the Strength Force emitting from Keystone City, suspecting Fuerza being responsible for the irregularities. While Barry and Iris West debate the moral efficacy of destroying the wayward Forces, Nora is adamant that the Forces are a direct threat that needs to be neutralized. Encountering a medical professional named Alexa Rivera matching Fuerza's signature, Nora gets emotional and scares her away. Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, Nora urges Barry to use his speed to conduct a test on Alexa to prove her culpability without her consent, resulting in a tense argument with Iris over the moral ambiguity with such a course of action.
In order to buy Frost more time, Caitlin and Allegra infiltrate the Central City Police Department and neutralize the metahuman cure stored in the facility. While successful, the unauthorized move raises suspicions over Frost's involvement as her sentencing hearing resumes, with Kramer revealing she has obtained a functional cure from A.R.G.U.S. for just such a contingency. After learning the cure isn't slated to cause harmful side effects, Caitlin is overjoyed, but Frost would rather serve a lengthy prison sentence than take something that erases a key part of who she is.
Joe arranges Frost to have a private conversation with Kramer, who reveals she hates all metahumans after she lost a squad under her command to a meta, with Kramer admitting she hopes Frost's sentencing sets a legal precedent for how the federal government deals with metahumans moving forward. After an emotional conversation with Caitlin, Frost thwarts Kramer's legal strategy by successfully petitioning the court for a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
Under the guise of the Flash, Barry successfully convinces Alexa to come into S.T.A.R. Labs for testing, though both Barry and Iris remain suspicious of Nora's motives. After the tests reveal Alexa is indeed Fuerza, Nora steals some of Barry's lightning and murders Alexa on the spot after she threatens Iris. Declaring that she is out to destroy all the other Forces before they can destroy her, Nora demands that Barry choose a side as he now faces a speedster enemy that now wears his mother's face.
The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes and Tom Cavanagh. New episodes air Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
