Sony recently dropped the final trailer for Morbius, the upcoming film bringing the Living Vampire to life on the big screen.

On top of scenes teased by previously released clips, the final trailer expanded on some of the Michael Morbius' most violent moments as a genetically-altered vampire and his transformation from awkward scientist to powerful antihero.

The film follows the titular scientist-turned-vampire, who initially ventures out in search of a cure for a rare blood condition. Experimentation with vampire bats and the cure results in the doctor being afflicted by a form of vampirism, granting him special powers and a thirst for blood -- both of which are seen in the trailer.

On top of actor Jared Leto in the starring role, the film features actors Tyrese Gibson as FBI agent Simon Stroud and Matt Smith as Milo, reportedly based on the comic book supervillain known as Hunger, a fellow Living Vampire. Sony recently revealed Milo and Morbius will be introduced as childhood friends. The company stated, "Morbius gave him his name. Born with the name Lucien and the same blood disease that Morbius has, the young Morbius renamed the boy Milo when they met as children. Their shared affliction led to a lifelong bond as brothers."

Aside from Morbius' live-action debut, the upcoming film will also seemingly tie into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That much was previously hinted when actor Michael Keaton made an appearance in one of Morbius' trailers, seemingly returning as Adrian Toomes, also known as the Vulture, from Spider-Man: Homecoming. While this may have been a stretch in years past, Spider-Man: No Way Home's post-credits scene -- featuring Tom Hardy returning as Eddie Brock/Venom -- confirmed that Sony's villain franchise was linked to the MCU. However, it's worth noting that, since the tear in reality was sealed and Doctor Strange returned everyone to their respective universes, it's uncertain how closely the characters in Sony's films and the MCU will interact in the future.

Morbius was announced in 2018 with actor Jared Leto attached. While filming completed without issue in 2019, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic caused numerous delays when it came to Morbius' release. The film was originally scheduled to hit theaters in July 2020 before being pushed back to later that summer. The uncertainty surrounding the film industry at the time caused the release to be pushed back again to March 2021, then October 2021, then January 2022, before landing on its current release date of April 2022.

Morbius is set to glide into theaters on April 1.
