Captain Denki’s First Mission’ had Denki’s team being assigned a B-Rank mission to Dotou Island in The Land of Water. Turns out, there’s gold present on the island, and the inhabitants were interested in extracting it. However, the ground wasn’t the most stable and mining was accompanied by risks.

BORUTO EPISODE 232 REVIEW

PREVIOUS EPISODE

The Boruto franchise has shown people, including ninjas, becoming quite open to using science and technology for various reasons. So, it made sense for such a fictional world to create tiny robots capable of extracting gold from a mine. With Denki being interested in technology, I liked how Katasuke selected Team 5 for the current mission. Not only were Team 5 tasked with transporting the three robots to Dotou Island, but Denki also needed to do certain maintenance on the puppets after reaching the gold mine. Having recently become a Chunin, I was looking forward to seeing Captain Denki handling Metal Lee and Iwabe to ensure the current B-Rank mission was successful.

In my opinion, Denki served well as a Chunin-level Captain. He’s not as physically strong as Metal Lee and Iwabe, but he definitely had the intellect to adapt to situations and use technology to his team’s advantage. With how things are progressing in the Boruto franchise, a tech-oriented ninja such as Denki has the potential to become very formidable down the line.

ATTACK ON TITAN SEASON 4 PART 2 EPISODE 2 REVIEW

As for the trouble in ‘Captain Denki’s First Mission’, I was expecting the human miners to feel insecure about robots taking over their jobs. However, the actual conflict was simpler. After Team 5 demonstrated the efficiency of the mining robots, two bandits worried about the robots finding their hidden stash of gold.

Of course, Team 5 was able to make quick work of the two bandits even though the bandits were ninjas and even trapped Team 5 inside the mine. Denki using the mining robots to catch the bandits served as another example of Denki’s ability to adapt quickly.

While I enjoyed watching Denki figuring out the best way to drill through the mine without having it collapse on top of everyone and Team 5 getting to fight the bandits at the end, I do feel the Boruto franchise should consider telling a story about how certain humans might feel about continuous technological advancements.

THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT EPISODE 3 REVIEW

There are many people in the real world who don’t like the idea of their jobs becoming automated. I think the Boruto franchise should show such sentiments as well instead of having everyone be on board with accepting technology. We have seen Boruto show some disdain for using Scientific Ninja Technology in the past. But I would like to see people who aren’t ninjas share their opinions about the fear of technology possibly taking over their jobs.

With Team 5 still having some unfinished business on Dotou Island, the preview for the next episode showed Boruto, Mitsuki, Salad, and Kawaki making their way to The Land of Water as well. I’m ready for Team 5 and Team 7 to work together to face a big threat.

What did you think of ‘Captain Denki’s First Mission’?
