WHAT IF ...? SEASON 1 EPISODE 5 REVIEW , RECAP, BREAKDOWN ......

 Episode 5 of Marvel’s What If…?, entitled ‘What If…Zombies!?’, is a tremendously fun half hour of television, and is also likely to be a really good time for fans of the Marvel Zombies comics.

The installment is packed with laughs and shocking moments, using classic zombie tropes to keep some of the best and most underrated MCU characters on their toes while maintaining an enviable pace as it throws one wild scenario after another at them.

SEX EDUCATION SEASON 3 TRAILER REVIEW 

In the wake of last week's dark Doctor Strange journey, the fifth episode of Marvel Cinematic Universe animated series What If…?  landed on Disney Plus Wednesday. This episode leans into horror tropes as it introduces Marvel Zombies to the MCU.

It helps to have seen all the MCU movies leading up to Avengers: Infinity War, but perhaps Spider-Man: Homecoming, Black Panther and the first two Ant-Man films are the most essential watches. There are also a fair few gut punches for any WandaVision fans in the building, and whomst amongst us is not?

After the Hulk’s battle with Thanos at the outset of Infinity War, Bruce Banner is transported back to Earth in Episode 5. Instead of meeting him in the Sanctum Sanctorum with Doctor Strange and Wong, he is left alone to roam the streets of a deserted New York City. He soon confronts members of the Black Order and, as in the movie, is unable to change into the Hulk in order to combat them.

MONEY HIEST SEASON 5 PART 1 REVIEW 

What If…? episode 5 diverges from Infinity War, with Iron Man, Doctor Strange, and Wong returning to battle, but as zombies. This is an alternate world in which the Earth has been infected with a zombie virus, and the pace of transmission has been increased thanks to the (still superpowered) Avengers.

The remaining superheroes come together to discover a cure in this episode. The primary characters in this narrative are Spider-Man, Bucky, Wasp, Ant-Man, Sharon Carter, and Okoye. As with most What If? episodes thus far, the action moves swiftly, and the heroes arrive in a facility in the hopes of finding a solution. Unfortunately, things do not go as planned, and the heroes are sent in a different route by a narrative twist. 

RED NOTICE MOVIE TRAILER REVIEW 

The zombies’ point of view is intriguing, and I’m glad to see the superpowered zombies keep their powers. It provides for some entertaining fights between heroes who haven’t battled in any of the MCU films. The episode’s pacing, on the other hand, feels rushed, and there’s little time to develop tension, which isn’t ideal for a zombie apocalypse film.

In end, What If? Episode 5 is a lighthearted adventure that spotlights some of the MCU’s underappreciated heroes, who now get their day to shine in this animated film. Another intriguing feature is the superpowered zombie heroes, with Wanda, Captain America, and Iron Man standing out. It gives the MCU’s most powerful entities a new level of respect (and horror), and it makes you glad they’re on the side of good. The pacing, on the other hand, is too rapid, and the sudden finish detracts from a satisfactory climax.
